Shakespeare in the Park
Free Theatre Performances in Central Park
The Public Theater’s Shakespeare for the City, or Shakespeare in the Park, returns to Manhattan in summer 2026 with free performances at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, continuing one of New York’s most beloved cultural traditions. The season includes Romeo and Juliet, directed by Saheem Ali, running in May 2026, followed by The Winter’s Tale, directed by Daniel Sullivan, with performances scheduled for July 2026. Both productions are presented as part of Free Shakespeare in the Park and are open to the public at no cost.
In addition to the Delacorte productions, As You Like It will be presented by the Public Theater’s Mobile Unit beginning in May 2026, touring free performances across all five boroughs, including select Manhattan locations.
Exact performance dates and casting for all productions will be announced closer to the season, with tickets distributed through the Public Theater’s free lottery and in-person methods. Reserve your spot in advance to ensure you don't miss out on this beloved NYC tradition! For more information, visit the Central Park website.
